Tracking
Timesheets for billing and payroll, idle-based auto clock-out from the desktop app, and GPS field check-ins for sales.
Overview
Tracking answers who is actually working, in the way that suits the work. Timers turn effort into timesheets, invoices and payroll; desk staff are clocked out automatically when their computer goes idle; field sales check in at client visits. No screenshots, no keystroke logs.
- Project-aware timer — one-click start tagged to a project and task; auto-pauses when idle.
- Idle auto clock-out — break after inactivity, a warning, then clock-out at the last activity.
- Field check-ins — GPS on tap, linked to the lead or deal, with mileage for reimbursement.
- Automated timesheets — weekly timesheets generated and ready for approval.
- Invoice integration — billable hours flow straight into invoices at the correct rate.
- Productivity scoring — surface your most productive hours and lowest-friction tasks.
- Approval workflows — managers approve time before it converts to billing or payroll.
The timer
Start the timer and tag it to a project and task in one click. It runs while you work and auto-pauses when you go idle, so tracked time reflects real effort. You can also add or edit time entries manually when you forget to start the timer.
Idle-based auto clock-out
With the GigRoot desktop app running, GigRoot knows one thing: whether the computer has had keyboard or mouse input, and when. After a stretch without input (15 minutes by default) the person is put on a break; shortly before the clock-out threshold (45 minutes) they are warned; then the shift is closed at their last activity, so idle time is never paid. Clocking in again the same day resumes the shift and records the time away as a break.
Roles often away from the keyboard — managers, consultants, sales — get longer thresholds by default (a break after 30 minutes, clock-out after 2 hours) and can be exempted; the agency owner is never clocked out. Without the desktop app idle can't be measured: the day is marked unverified and, by default, the old offline rule applies. Managers see whether shifts ended manually or automatically and a weekly count per person — never screenshots, keystrokes or app names.
Get the app from Desktop app in the Tracking header: macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows (installer or portable) and Linux (AppImage or .deb). Thresholds and per-role rules are in the Tracking Settings tab, which managers can open.
Field check-ins
Sales staff tap Start visit and End visit on their phone. GPS and time are read at that moment only — never in the background — after they give explicit, revocable consent. A visit can be linked to a lead or deal and appears on its timeline, an optional photo can be required, and the distance between visits feeds a mileage log that files a reimbursement claim (₹4 a km by default; clear the rate to turn claims off). Field visits are on for sales and consultant roles by default. Check-ins made without signal are saved on the phone and sent when the app is next open online. Visits also count as recorded work in work coverage.
